The petrol tank may be leaky – this will be further proved by a strong smell of petrol in the cabin, also when parking.

  • Pressure is too high in the tank
  • There’s a leakage in the connector between the tank and the pipe going up to the inlet.
  • Other fuel duct connectors may also be leaking
  • The leakage is effected through the fuel filter – often as a result of the filter clogging and excessive pressure in the supply system.
  • The smell results from malfunctions in the operation of the air-escape or the carbon filter system. It comes from the vapours produced.
